Clostridium difficile infection during pregnancy

Summary: Clostridium difficile (CD) is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea in hospitalized patients. Over the past decade, increased reports of CD infection in the general population have been seen alongside an increased incidence of CD infection in pregnant women. In this article we review the current recommendations regarding CDI testing, treatment strategies and prevention.
