pMDI inhalers – is actuation/inhalation coordination required in all devices?
Summary:
Pressured meter dose inhalers (pMDI) are the most popular asthma and COPD delivery devices. Older drug formulations delivered through pMDI were criticized for several critical errors made by patients, mostly coordination issues. New superfine aerosol formulations delivered through pMDI have been available for several years. These formulations have eliminated most of the problems with drug lung delivery. This review focuses on pMDI myths that are nonexistent when new superfine aerosols are utilized in either asthma or COPD therapy.
Keywords: asthma, COPD, pMDI, superfine aerosol.
