Pharmacotherapy of peripheral vertigo and dizziness

Summary: Vertigo, dizziness and imbalance make a relevant percentage of patients presenting to outpatient clinics, hospitals and emergency departments. Occurrence of this disturbances in the group of patients aged over 65 may reach up to 30%, what makes it a significant diagnostic and therapeutic problem; consequences of vertigo and imbalance – falls ‒ makes also a significant social and socioeconomical problem. Most of this disturbances is caused by the pathologies of peripheral vestibular system. This cause a necessity of understanding of pharmacotherapy of peripheral disorders, which can be useful for many clinical specialties. The aim of this review is to present actual methods of pharmacotherapy of peripheral disorders.
