The specificity and safety of analgesic treatment in geriatric patients
Summary:
Pain management in the geriatric population must take into account both the pathomechanism of pain and the specificity of analgesic management in this particular patient population. The choice of analgesics should ensure optimal pain control and must ensure the optimal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of drugs due to the changing conditions of the use of effective and safe pharmacotherapy with age. Ef-fective prevention of drug-induced side effects is not without practical significance. In accordance with the current medical knowledge, all these issues important in clinical practice are presented in the paper.
