Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease in the light of recent recommendations
Summary:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common reason for visiting general practitioners and also gastrointestinal specialists. A key role in reflux pathogenesis is performed by prolonged periods of transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations. The authors review the diagnosis and principles of treatment and management in esophageal and extraesophageal syndromes of GERD.
