Potential in vitro efficacy of cetylpyridinium chloride against SARS-CoV-2
Summary:
The development of an effective antiviral therapy against COVID-19 remains crucial for those awaiting vaccination, but also for those who are not responding robustly to vaccination or have already become infected with SARS-CoV-2. The antiseptic, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), has already been described as an effective bactericide. The results obtained in the study presented below indicate that cetylpyridinium chloride/benzydamine hydrochloride is effective and highly virucidal, with the possibility of reducing oral viral load, and thus reducing the risk of viral transmission in society.
