Triple therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: data on effectiveness and current indications
Summary:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common disease which places great burden on patients and health care system. Inhaled bronchodilatators constitute a cornerstone of COPD treatment. In some patients inhaled glucocorticosteroids are also used. Some of the most severe cases need treatment with all three classes of inhaled drugs: longacting β2-agonists, longacting muscarinic antagonists and inhaled glucocorticosteroids. In this article we review data of effectiveness of triple therapy as well as current indications for its use.
