Summary:
The role of the first-line treating physician and OTC medication are important in sinusitis treatment. Nasal GCS and nasal wash are still the cornerstones of treatment in many aspects of sinusitis. Mucoactive drugs seem to be an interesting add-on therapy in sinusitis, although there are very few research papers in this area. In this short review, the EPOS 2020 guidelines are briefly described with a focus on mucolytic therapy, which is still underestimated. Therefore, in two short cases we present the treatment approach with this class of medication.
