Summary:
Asthma treatment in pregnancy obviously brings several issues. The first is the safety of the pregnancy and the mother. On one hand, accumulated data suggest that all medication changes in stable asthma treatment in pregnant women may lead to asthma deterioration. On the other hand, the safety of asthma treatment is being debated, although clinical data prove otherwise. Interestingly, the combination of FP/Sal seems to be a safe, well-tolerated choice in asthma treatment, both before and after conception. In this short review we deliver data related to asthma treatment safety in pregnancy based on meta-analysis and register studies.
