Selected aspects of the technology of coated tablets with tramadol hydrochloride and paracetamol in terms of effective pharmacotherapy of pain complaints
Summary:
Tablets are probably the best known and recognizable group of solid forms of drugs, in common use, available by prescription as well as over the counter. A large variety of tablets have been mentioned in the monograph of Polish Pharmacopea XII. The main two types are uncoated and coated tablets. The quality and speed of action of the biological active substance depend on the type and properties of the tablet, as well as the composition of additional substances. In this study, research has been undertaken on coated tablets containing tramadol hydrochloride and paracetamol. The same type of tablet and the same qualitative and quantitative composition of active substances can characterize both the original and a generic medicinal product. It is worth noting, however, that besides the API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient), a tablet also contains additional excipients with a specific type of functionality, and they can determine morphological differences between the forms - sometimes larger or smaller - having an impact on the overall therapeutic effect.
