Summary: Inhalation therapy has been known for a long time and is widely used in the treatment of respiratory diseases. Nebulization is one of the primary inhalation methods. Mesh nebulizers have been on the market for over 30 years and are becoming increasingly popular due to their working characteristics and portable size. In this paper, the results of a preliminary study to assess the possibility of suspension administration using a mesh nebulizer are presented. Three marketed budesonide suspension formulations, i.e. Pulmicort, Budixon Neb and Nebbud, as well as two mesh nebulizers AirPro and Intec Twister MESH were used in this study. The results suggest that one of the critical parameter is the size of the suspended particles in the case of nebulization with a mesh device.
