Headache pharmacotherapy. Why ketoprofen is still an effective treatment option
Summary:
Headache episodes in the course of migraine and tension headache are the two most common causes of this growing problem of headache. In an attack of migraine-accompanying headache, it is possible to apply at least two therapeutic strategies. The first is treatment with non-opioid analgesics - NSAIDs, metamizole, paracetamol. Non-opioid analgesics, in particular NSAIDs, are effective in a mild or even moderate headache attack, but a satisfactory effect is unlikely to be satisfactory in high-intensity pain or very rapid migraine headache attacks. The choice of pharmacotherapy in a headache patient must be individualized and must take into account both the pain mechanism and the pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic profile of the drug used. One of the highly effective non-opioid analgesics with an optimal safety profile is ketoprofen.
