Recommendations for the management of community-acquired respiratory infections 2016 – are corrections needed? Part I. Acute infections of the upper respiratory tract
Summary:
The current Recommendations for the Procedure in Community-acquired Respiratory Tract Infections (1997, 2003, 2010 and 2016), on the initiative and under the direction of Professor Waleria Hryniewicz, were developed in 6–7-year cycles. Six years have passed since the last issue of the "Recommendation", rich in new publications, but also such important events as the current Covid-19 pandemic and the introduction of universal vaccination against pneumococci. The authors decided to propose and submit for discussion an attempt to systematize the issues and literature that would facilitate the development of updated Recommendations. In this section, we present arguments in favor of modifying the recommendations for upper respiratory tract infections: pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute otitis media, and acute rhinosinusitis.
Keywords: Recommendations 2016, upper respiratory tract infections, streptococcal angina, acute otitis media, acute rhinosinusitis
