Summary: Glutathione is one of the most potent endogenous antioxidant. Erdosteine is a precursor for glutathione. In this short review, we are focused on oxidative stress in lung infections. We also discussed erdosteine role in increasing in the glutathione level which might be helpful in severe COVID-19 survival. We also discussed the role of radical oxygen species in the long COVID-19 syndrome with some treatment approaches. Glutathione also may have a role in bacterial biofilm destruction, therefore erdosteine is a very affective add-on therapy in lung infections and prevents them as well decreases the number of exacerbation of chronic lung diseases.
