Summary:
Older people very often have chronic diseases and this makes them more vulnerable to infectious diseases and is an adverse prognostic factor in case of infection. Vaccinations play a significant role in prevention. They protect not only from infections but also from serious complications and death. Vaccinations against influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and Streptococcus pneumoniae are particularly recommended for the elderly. Other routine vaccinations available for adults should be considered as well as vaccinations in particular circumstances.
