Diabetic foot syndrome (DFS) - the rules for optimal management in the outpatient setting or how to avoid pitfalls in the daily diagnosis and treatment of DFS
Summary:
Diabetic foot syndrome (DFS) is one of the most feared complications of diabetes, often associated with poor prognosis for patients' survival. It is also a challenge in terms of short and long-term management as it requires collaboration between a diabetologist, vascular and general surgeon, orthopedist, radiologist, dermatologist, physiotherapist and a shoe maker. The article presents the general rules for DFS management and most common pitfalls to be encountered in daily practice as well as the methods of avoiding them.
