Regression of liver fibrosis

Summary: One of the effects of the liver-damaging agent is the progression of fibrosis of the organ. The final stage of fibrosis is cirrhosis. This article presents the pathomechanism leading to liver fibrosis. At the same time, these are theoretical points of influence leading to inhibition of this adverse process. These include removal of the causative agent of liver damage, inactivation or elimination of myofibroblasts, inhibition of inflammation and removal of the extracellular matrix composed of collagen. The content of the article includes information on the possibility of regression of liver fibrosis on the basis of studies in which the different elements of the processes involved in the withdrawal of fibrosis were acted upon. The conclusions include information on the possibility of both pharmacological therapy and the impact of lifestyle modification on the patient's disease process.
