Amlodipine, lacidipine and lercanidipine – physicochemical differences in various in vitro research models
Summary:
Amlodipine, lacidipine and lercanidipine are dihydropyridine derivatives commonly used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. These compounds belong to the group of so-called calcium antagonists. These substances have different structures and physicochemical properties. They come in the form of coated tablets and uncoated tablets with various components of excipients forming cores and shells. The paper focuses on the development and application of various “in vitro” research models to assess the hydrophilic-lipophilic properties of lercanidipine, amlodipine and lacidipine in the form of a drug and in the form of pure API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) in the field of stability in relation to the health conditions of a patient with hypertension.
