Ketoprofen used topically to treat inflammatory pain – why it is the optimal therapeutic option?
Summary:
Inflammatory pain is a consequence of the body’s defensive reaction to infections, tissue damage or an autoimmune process. Safety and efficacy are two important aspects of chronic pain therapy. Side effects of systemic analgesics often limit therapeutic options and contribute to low efficacy, and in some cases even to treatment failure. For these reasons, topical preparations that have an optimal safety profile and low risk of side effects seem to be an interesting therapeutic option. Ketoprofen is one of the topical NSAIDs used.
