Ambroxol in pain therapy, a well-known drug with new applications
Summary:
Neuropathic pain is a special type of pain that is initiated or caused by primary damage to the somatosensory part of the nervous system. Current recommendations regarding the pharmacotherapy of neuropathic pain (NB) require verification due to the fact that in recent years the therapeutic possibilities have expanded to allow the use of available drugs for which new evidence of their effectiveness has been obtained in clinical trial conditions. Currently, in the pharmacotherapy of pain, we can use new therapeutic options based on drugs already known and used in indications other than pain. An example is ambroxol, which is can be used in the treatment of various forms of pain.
