Falls in patients with chronic pain

Summary: Chronic pain is a major contemporary health problem accounting for 20–40% of population in industrialized countries. Another increasingly common health risk is the rate of falls in older population. Prevention and therapy of both this problems has many common elements like risk factors: age, morbidity, decline in physical function, depressive symptoms, overuse and misuse of drugs but also the rehabilitation and treatment methods. Therefore the new strategies of chronic pain therapy should be integrated with falls prevention programs for more efficient results.
