Use of lidocaine in the treatment of acute otitis media
Summary:
The article focuses on the use of lidocaine in the treatment of acute otitis media (AOM). AOM is a common condition that causes pain, discomfort, and hearing loss. Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, can provide pain relief and accelerate healing. Studies confirm the effectiveness of lidocaine in relieving pain and reducing inflammation. Combining topical lidocaine with oral analgesia and antibiotics may be beneficial in cases of bacterial infection. However, proper dosage and potential side effects should be considered. The literature review suggests that lidocaine can be an effective tool in treating AOM, but further research is needed.
