Possibilities of physiotherapy in a cancer patient

Summary: Physiotherapy is an important part of cancer treatment. It prevents complications and functional consequences of oncological treatment, removes functional consequences of oncological treatment, relieves the symptoms of the terminal period of the disease, improves the patient’s quality of life. It is indicated at every stage of cancer. Performed at the same time as basic treatment, it supports and facilitates it. Physiotherapeutic methods are selected individually, taking into account the type and location of the cancer, the severity of the disease, the method and stage of basic treatment, the general condition of the patient, his or her preferences, and the experience of the therapist. However, physiotherapy has major limitations due to its stimulating action, the potential risk of relapse or development. There is no scientific evidence confirming its safety. Therefore, physicians, physiotherapists and patients have great concerns about the use of physiotherapy.
