Complementary feeding in infants and young children – current WHO guidelines and controversies

Summary: This article focuses on key aspects of nutrition for children aged 6 to 23 months, in line with the 2023 World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. It presents the principles of introducing complementary foods and emphasizes their importance for healthy development. The article also discusses differences in the recommendations of WHO and some other scientific societies, highlighting the need for an individual approach to a child's needs, as well as controversies surrounding the use of animal milk in the first year of life.
