Sarcoidosis – when should it be treated?

Summary: Sarcoidosis is an immunologic disorder of unknown cause. The paper discusses the indications for proposed therapy. The rationale for the use of corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, biological immunomodulatory treatment and current areas of clinical progress in the therapy of pulmonary and extrapulmonary sarcoidosis is also presented.
