Summary: Each patient with diabetes should exert utmost care regarding their feet, as thus amputations can be almost entirely prevented. Proper foot care is particularly important in patients with insensate feet due to distal polyneuropathy as well in all those with disfigured feet or after minor amputations. The validated rules of diabetic foot care are presented, for the use for patients, nurses and doctors alike.
