The combination of paracetamol and tramadol in the pharmacotherapy of pain – why doses of used drugs are so important
Summary:
The rational association of analgesics with complementary mechanisms of action is a modern and increasingly popular therapeutic approach referred to as “multidirectional analgesia” or “balanced analgesia”. The choice of such therapeutic treatment allows to improve the quality of analgesia as well as improve the tolerance and safety of treatment. A known and effective combination of reduced doses of two analgesics is the combination of tramadol and paracetamol. For this combination to be effective in the treatment of pain, the dose of individual drugs must be appropriate. It is worth remembering that according to the pharmacokinetic profile at the moment, in most pain conditions, the combination of 75 mg of tramadol with 650 mg of paracetamol is considered an optimal single dose.
