Summary:
Parasitic infections are among the more common in the world. In developing countries, they are associated with high mortality. Poland is one of the regions where parasitic infections are rare. In spite of this, many myths about the multiple symptoms of parasitosis, diagnostic methods and treatment are common among the population.
Interventions are often unjustified and sometimes dangerous. Therefore, careful differential diagnosis of symptoms reported by the patient is advisable, including parasitic infections. Empirical treatment of unconfirmed infections should be absolutely occasional.
