Summary: Choosing the right medicine to treat cough is not a matter of course. Depending on the type, age of the patient and comorbidities, the choice of drug should be individualized. What’s more, it is worth remembering that drugs used in productive cough have numerous additional activities that we can consciously use in practice and they are also the basis for the individualization of treatment.
