Summary: During the last decade we have observed enormous development in medicine and continual progress in the expansion of our medical knowledge, however iatrogenic drug response is still an important challenge in clinical practice. Despite the fact that iatrogenic drug response can be found in all age populations, the consequences are most dangerous for the health and life of the oldest of elderly patients. The aim of this paper is to highlight the main notions related to iatrogenic geriatric syndrome, taking into account the specificity of the drug pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes in the elderly, as well as potential risk factors, early recognition, and prevention strategies in everyday clinical practice.
