Exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ‒ principles of therapeutic management
Summary:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is one of the most com-mon respiratory diseases that affects many adults over the age of 40. According to WHO, more than 250 million people are sick worldwide. In the autumn-winter period, due to viral infections of the upper respiratory tract, the exacerbation of the disease occurs more often, which accelerates the annual decline in FEV1, worsens the patient's quality of life and often ends in hospitalization. That is why proper treatment is so important at an early stage of the disease, which will avoid exacerbations and deterioration of functioning in everyday life.
