Summary: The clinical problem of osteoporosis is fractures, the number of which increases with age. The purpose of this work is to present the current state of knowledge in the diagnosis of osteoporosis, the assessment of the risk of fracture in the individual patient and to introduce the principles of therapy selection. The objectives of pharmacotherapy, the way it is carried out, monitoring of therapy, temporary interruption of treatment, and sequential treatment are presented.
