Type 2 diabetes – what's new in the recommendations regarding its diagnosis and therapy?
Summary:
Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes in adults. The risk factors for its occurrence are primarily older age, obesity, and an inactive lifestyle. The disease harms the patient's quality of life, increases the risk of adverse consequences in the cardiovascular system and other chronic complications, and worsens the prognosis for further life. The article presents selected clinical recommendations for diagnosing and treating type 2 diabetes and its complications in light of the current position of the Polish Diabetes Association (2023).
