Summary: Dry powder inhalers (DPI) are individual inhalation devices very often used for many years in the practice of family doctors, internists, pediatricians and pulmonologists or allergologists. The publication presents current trends on the DPI market in the world and in Poland. The divisions and principles of DPI are discussed. DPIs available in the country are presented along with medicines registered in them. The Aerostar inhaler is presented in detail, discussing its structure, operation and registration process. The focus is on the analysis of factors influencing effective inhalation with DPI.
