Single-pill combination based on antihypertensive drugs and a statin ‒ only arguments for?

Summary: Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are two main factors contributing to the development of clinically evident atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Therefore, an important element of the management of patients with hypertension and hypercholesterolemia is the use of appropriate drugs that will lower blood pressure and cholesterol concentration. In order to ensure long-term compliance, it is recommended to use combined pills consisting of antihypertensive drugs and statins. This combination, through the simultaneous control of the two major cardiovascular risk factors, may contribute to the achievement of target blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Thus, this will translate into an improvement in patients' cardiovascular risk.
