β-blockers in the treatment of arterial hypertension ‒ optimal choice in particular clinical settings
Summary:
The new ESC/ESH and PTNT guidelines, emphasizing the use of combinations based on drugs that inhibit the renin‒angiotensin system, calcium antagonist and diuretic, also indicate an important role of β-blockers in the treatment of hypertension, especially in patients with accelerated heart rate, a diagnosed disease cardiovascular system and other indications for the use of this group of drugs. It should be emphasized that β-blockers constitute a diverse group of drugs. Depending on indications and coexisting conditions, it may be preferable to use individual preparations from this group. In the presented article, using the example of nebivolol and bisoprolol, the possibilities of differentiating the use of preparations from this group were presented.
