Summary: GOLD Report was created over 20 years ago in order to systematize knowledge and indicate the most effective medical intervention in COPD treatment. Because the number of clinical trials has been raising for the last couple of years, the GOLD report has been annually updated. This year’s edition brings new recommendations regarding nosology, etiology and indications for adding new inhaled drugs to the current therapy. For the first time it is stated that triple therapy can reduce mortality in certain group of patients. There are also some changes proposed in the field of vaccines and screening for lung cancer.
