Up-to-date standards of urticaria management – special role of IgE antibodies

Summary: Urticaria is a heterogenous disease characterized by the development of wheals (hives), angioedema or both. Its burden is relatively big, with chronic type being significat clinical problem and affecting about 0,6% of the Polish. This year new edition of the EAACI/GA2LEN/EDF/WAO recommendations regarding urticaria management was released. It includes important changes in therapy of chronic spontaneous urticaria with biological agents. It should affect therapeutic programme of chronic urticaria, reimbursing omalizumab therapy in Poland. This paper provide also information about molecular basis of urticaria pathophysiology.
