When can we say that blood pressure is effectively controlled?

Summary: The modern concept of blood pressure control allows us to conclude that blood pressure is well controlled when the applied antihypertensive therapy leads not only to a lowering of blood pressure values but also to a long-lasting, round-the-clock control of blood pressure without significant fluctuations and a beneficial effect on reducing the incidence of development or severity of organ complications. As presented in the article, the use of two- and three-drug combinations based on perindopril, indapamide and amlodipine "well" controls blood pressure in the three dimensions described, which translates into a proven reduction in cardiovascular risk for these drugs.
