Nebivolol – a place in the treatment of hypertension in the light of the latest Polish and European guidelines

Summary: The ESC / ESH and PTNT guidelines emphasizing the use of combinations based on drugs that inhibit the renin-angiotensin system, a calcium antagonist and a diuretic, at the same time point to the important role of beta-blockers in the treatment of hypertension, especially in patients with known cardiovascular disease. New, lower blood pressure targets will require combination therapy with 4 or more antihypertensive drugs, including beta blockers, in a significant proportion of patients with hypertension. In many clinical situations, the use of nebivolol, a beta blocker with vasodilator properties, will be beneficial.
