Comprehensive treatment of allergic rhinitis - recent recommendations
Summary:
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is one of the most common chronic respiratory diseases in adults and children. Treatment of AR is extremely important from the point of view not only of alleviating symptoms but also improving patients’ quality of life. Due to inflammatory characteristics of the disease, international task forces recommend the use of intranasal corticosteroids as first-line therapy of AR. To intensify the treatment and accelerate its therapeutic effect, it is recommended to attach antihistamines to intranasal corticosteroids. This combination helps to achieve a good anti-inflammatory response, quick time to effect, safety and good compliance by the patient, which improves disease control and patients’ quality of life.
