Summary: In the new European Society of Cardiology/European Society of Hypertension (ESC/ESH) 2018 guidelines, the combination of an ACE-inhibitor and a calcium channel blocker has been listed among recommended combinations of antihypertensive drugs. It is also preferred to use this combination as a single pill combination. Based on ramipril and amlodipine, the review discusses the benefits of using this combination. The place of this combination in the new ESC/ESH 2018 guidelines is also discussed.
