New life for well known antihypertensive drugs: outdated or irreplaceable?
Summary:
The paper presents studies evaluating the clinical efficacy and tolerability of combination treatment with enalapril and lercanidipine. They show greater blood pressure reduction than monotherapy. A significant reduction of blood pressure with this combination at 24 hours and night-time, proving 24 h efficacy, was also observed. The possibility of using this combination as single-pill therapy in the light of the new 2018 ESC/ESH guidelines is also discussed.
