Summary:
In modern practice we observe increasing interest in the biopsychosocial approach to issues regarding health and illness. This is one of the main reasons for researchers to seek the cause of these diseases among social and psychological aspects. The occurrence of a large number of coexisting psychological disorders is the main evidence for the importance of the role of integrity between psyche and soma. These psychological disorders may have an influence on the course of illness, exacerbations and treatment of allergic diseases. Our paper defines such terms as psychosomatics and psychosomatic medicine, describes psychosomatic aspects of asthma and allergy and further explores psychological issues modifying the clinical picture of these diseases.
