CARDIOLIPID Plan – od oceny ryzyka sercowo-naczyniowego do skutecznego leczenia dyslipidemii

The CARDIOLIPID Plan ‒ From Cardiovascular Risk Assessment to Effective Dyslipidaemia Management

Summary: Dyslipidemia is one of the most important modifiable cardiovascular risk factors, yet despite the availability of effective treatment options, achieving target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels remains far from satisfactory. This is due to therapeutic inertia and the difficulty of translating comprehensive recommendations into everyday clinical practice. The CARDIOLIPID Plan is a practical algorithm designed to streamline the diagnosis and treatment of dyslipidemia and to link the assessment of total cardiovascular risk with specific therapeutic decisions. The algorithm consists of two complementary modules. CARDIO encompasses the definition of cardiovascular risk categories, the assessment of total atherogenic lipoprotein burden, the identification of hereditary dyslipidemias, risk modifiers, and secondary causes of lipid disorders, the use of imaging tests, and the integration of the obtained information into a comprehensive risk assessment. The LIPID module translates this assessment into therapeutic management, including setting individual lipid targets, lifestyle improvements, implementing and intensifying pharmacotherapy early enough, individualizing it, and long-term risk management. Pharmacotherapy is based on the principles of "the earlier, the better," "the lower, the better," and "the longer, the better." The CARDIOLIPID Plan can be a useful tool supporting the implementation of current recommendations, reducing therapeutic inertia, and facilitating comprehensive, personalized management of patients with dyslipidemia.

Dyslipidemia pozostaje jednym z najważniejszych modyfikowalnych czynników ryzyka chorób sercowo-naczyniowych (CVD), a podwyższone stężenie cholesterolu frakcji lipoprotein o małej gęstości (LDL-C) odgrywa kluczową rolę w rozwoju miażdżycowej choroby sercowo-naczyniowej (ASCVD) (1). Na rycinie 1 przedstawiono ryzyko progresji blaszki miażdżycowej w zależności od stężenia LDL-C i HDL-C (2).
